Overhead Lifelines2024-04-04T16:07:34+03:00

Work on vehicles such as trucks, lorries and tankers involves the danger of falling. Overhead lifelines offer the right solutions for this type of work.

  • Overhead lifelines ensure that personnel can work safely without restricting their mobility while working on the vehicle.
  • Overhead lifelines must be positioned overhead so that the working area is not too high off the ground.
  • Overhead lifelines create a safe working opportunity by ensuring that personnel are stopped instantly in case of possible falls.

Where are overhead lifelines used?2024-04-05T10:26:23+03:00

Overhead lifelines are used almost everywhere where on-board work is required and collective protection methods are not applicable. Overhead lifelines are needed in areas such as tanker filling sites, truck and truck loading areas, vehicle maintenance workshops, aircraft hangars.

At what height should overhead lifelines be?2024-04-05T10:17:32+03:00

The height of the lifelines on the vehicle is determined according to the height of the working area. Since there is not much distance between the worker and the ground when working on a vehicle, the lifeline must be placed in an overhead position. Constructions should therefore be used so that the lifeline is positioned above the worker’s head.

Where are on-board lifelines installed?2023-11-29T15:02:38+03:00

On-vehicle lifelines can be installed on a specially designed platform above the worker’s head or, if the vehicle is under a building or porch, a lifeline can be installed on carriers located there. Ensure that the structure to which the lifelines will be fixed is of appropriate strength.

Is the platform certified?2023-11-29T15:02:32+03:00

In the case of lifelines, only the wire rope or rail system as a whole is certified. The platform, wall, steel construction on which the lifeline is fixed does not have to be subject to any certification. Steel uprights with an average length of 6 meters, which are frequently used especially in on-board lifelines, are not subject to any certification in the field of fall protection.

Can the platform and lifeline be purchased separately?2023-11-29T15:02:29+03:00

The lifeline and the uprights on which the lifeline is fixed can be considered as independent products. Looking at the system as a whole, the majority of the cost is covered by the platform on which the lifeline is installed. XTR Safety also installs lifelines on platforms prepared by the employer.
